SOHO ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Aug-2012
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with light purple hues. This has a full, broad and dense nose of black cherry fruits with significant flinty, earthy, inky reductive aromas prominent. Full-bodied, solid and fulsome flavours of dark berry fruits are combined with inky, reductive notes. There is primary fruit brightness underneath which subtly growing to fill the mouth with rounded textures and good presence and weight. Some alcohol power is present. The acidity is soft, but contributes good energy, which carries through to a strong finish with dark red berry fruits and floral notes. This is a soft, weighty Pinot Noir with some richness, somewhat marked by some sulphide reduction at present. Serve with Middle Eastern red meat dishes over the next 5-6 years. A single vineyard wine, the fruit hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 30% new French oak barrels. 16.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $35.00
