Soho Caviar Sauvignon Blanc 2019, Marlborough

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-May-2021
Brilliant, pale yellow with a gold hue, even colour throughout. The nose is softly full with fine detail of barrel-fermentation characters, nuances of lightly smokey struck match, spices, creamy lees underlined citrus and green apple. Medium-bodied, green apple aroma, mandarin, lemon and a hint of stonefruit lightly cushioned by creamy lees, beautiful spices unfold with a light veil of smoke. Fine-textured phenolic added apple skin essence flows with mouthwatering acidity to linearity. Mandarin peels and smoke are well-portioned, contribute to complexity and interest. This is an elegantly complexed Sauvignon Blanc with barrel fermentation details and a crisp palate. Match with bacon-wrapped scallops and smoked fish pie over the next 4-6 years. Fruit sourced from Carter's Organic Certified Jomara Vineyard, Southern Valleys, handpicked, whole bunch pressed, spontaneous wild-fermented and aged in older French barrels. 13% alc. Vegan friendly. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) May 2021 RRP $38
