Soho Cater Chardonnay 2021, Waiheke Island

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 05-Jul-2022
Bright, clear, even, pale yellow. The nose is soft and coy, slowly penetrating aromas of lemon sherbet, white peach melded with a hint of floral and delicate barrel element. Medium-bodied, elegantly presented, lemon sherbet, lemon peels and peach interweave floral, vanilla and fine spice. The mouthfeel is creamy and almost unctuous, presenting lanolin and fine-textured phenolics. The fruit is pure, clean, neat, and supported by crisp acidity and a good flow. This is an elegant and restrained Chardonnay with a citrus core, delicate oak details and a fine-textured mouthfeel. Match with blue cod and langoustine over the next 4-6 years. Handpicked, fermented to 13.5% alc, aged in French oak barrels, 37% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) July 2022 RRP $49
