Soho Carter Chardonnay 2020, Waiheke Island

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 30-Mar-2021
Bright, pale straw-yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is vibrant and voluminous, nuances of pineapple, citrus melded with oak seasoning of spice, vanilla and hazelnuts, along with creamy lemon curd. Full-bodied, pineapple aroma merged with stonefruit and lemon zest, prickly spices filled the palate, unveiling toasted hazelnuts, vanilla and creamy lemon curd. The acidity is buoyant and bright, provide a lift to the full and creamy palate. Nutty and spice elements are elegantly presented, integrated with the fruit and acidity. This is a youthful, full-bodied Chardonnay with brilliant acidity and flavour intensity, ready to be enjoyed now with roasted chicken, seafood with creamy sauce, or to be cellared for 5-8 years. Handpicked fruit from Carter's Jomara Vineyard, Onetangi, fermented to 14% alc, 37% new oak used. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) March 2021 RRP $45
