Snapper Rock Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet 2014

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Sep-2016
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, lighter on rim, and youthful in appearance. The nose is finely bound and elegantly concentrated with aromas of dark-red berry fruit, dark plums, blackcurrants and herbal nuances, the aromatics a little restrained in expression. Medium-bodied, the palate is finely concentrated and intense with flavours of dark-red and black-berried fruits dark herbs, blackcurrants, unfolding a nutty oak layer. The mouthfeel has grainy tannin extraction with balanced, soft acidity, and the wine flows along an elegant, but firm line leading to a lingering finish of black fruits, liquorice and herbs. This is an elegantly concentrated Merlot blend with black fruits and herb and curranty detail, and a firm grainy line. Match with lamb, beef and casseroles over the next 4+ years. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc fermented to 11.0% alc., the wine aged 16 months in French oak. 16.5/20 Sep 2016 RRP $19.99
