Even ruby-red colour with light purple hues on the rim. The nose is softly full with aromas of dark red and blue berried fruits entwined with nutty, resinous oak notes, and a subtle layering of fruit cake, herbs, spices and cedar. The aromatics grow in depth and integrate with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate features soft, drying extraction and structure encasing restrained flavours of dark raspberry and blueberry fruit. Spice, pepper and cedary, nutty oak add interest, and the fruit sweetness emerges to fill the mouth forming a positive core. Soft acidity provides energy to the wine, which carries to a long, soft, dry finish. This is a soft, textural Zinfandel with light and moderately rich fruit, and nutty, cedary and slightly resinous oak. Serve with barbecued fare and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 78% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, 9% Barbera and 1% each of Merlot, Syrah and Tempranillo from California including the Lodi and Paso Robles districts, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months 80% American and 10% each French and Hungarian oak, of which 80% was new. 16.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $22.00
