Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Jul-2026
Bright, even, pale yellow-gold. The nose is rich, with aromas of flint, spiced pineapple, citrus, ripe peach, toasted hazelnut and cardamom. Medium-bodied, aromas of pineapple and grilled lemon melded with toasted hazelnut, cardamom and flint. This has a weighty mouthfeel, constructed by concentration of fruit, flinty stone minerals and fine-textured phenolics. Juicy acid tension provides fluidity to a lengthy, zesty, flinty finish. A powerful Chardonnay with grace and structure. Match with toasted guinea fowl and bone-in pork ribeye over the next 10 years. Fruit from Omahu Vineyard on the Gimblett Gravels, handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented in seasoned French oak. 13.9% alc. 19.5/20 pts (97 pts) Jul 2026 RRP $60
