Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Mar-2022
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow. The nose is full and distinctive; aromas of currants, gooseberries and lime filled the glass, along with subtle spice and stony minerals. Medium-light bodied, acid tension drives a focus and length, aromas of white currants, gooseberries and lime entwined with fresh herbs, and stony minerals added crunch to the finish. The wine has purity and line, salivating acidity possesses a softness, and bright fruit has discretion; subtle savouriness lingers with minerals. Fine, chalky textured phenolics left an elegant mouthfeel. This Wairau Sauvignon Blanc shows a sense of place, subtleties and precision. Match with steamed clams & mussels or goat's cheese salad over the next 3-4 years. A combination of machines and handpicked fruit, fermented cool in stainless steel and a small portion fermented in oak fuder, 13.5% alc, left on light lees for 6 months. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Mar 2022 RRP $30
