Smith & Sheth CRU Heretaunga Albarino 2021, Hawke’s Bay

Albarino from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Mar-2022
Bright, pale yellow with a slight green hue and some depth, even colour throughout. The wine is softly full, packed with aromas of citrus, green mango, stonefruit, interweave floral and a hint of flint and spice. Medium-bodied, lime, green mango, nectarine have a taut core, subtle white spice drives a long, salivating finish, closing with a touch of sea salt and citrus peels. Fine-textured phenolics contribute to a smooth mouthfeel flow with a light creaminess. Salivating acidity draws a long elegant finish. This is a charming Albarino shows lush tropical fruit, a lively acid line on a textural, refined palate. Match with shrimp cocktail and king crab over the next 3-4 years. Handpicked Albarino from Bridge Pa, whole bunch pressed, 100% fermented in seasoned barrels to 14.5% alc, 40% wild ferment, partial MLF, on full lees for 10 months. No fining, vegan friendly. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Mar 2021 RRP $40
