Sliding Hill Pinot Noir 2019, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Jun-2020
Dark, youthful ruby-red with a purple hue, even colour throughout. The nose is intensely fragrant with the scent of acacia wood, dried red floral, along with sweet aromas of dark plum and cherry entwined with comforting spices and vanilla note. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft, rich flavours of dark plums and cherries, melded with sweet vanilla and spices. The mouthfeel is voluminous and plush and is supported by fine-grained tannin extraction and grip; balanced by lively and soft acidity. Notes of fragranced acacia and dried florals unfolded as the wine opens up along with chocolate notes and carries it to a comforting, flavoursome finish. This is a rich flavour Pinot Noir with flavours of dark plums  & cherries, with spices of vanilla and acacia on a plush palate supported by fine-grained tannin structure. Match with game and casserole over the next 3-5 years. Handpicked, destemmed, fermented to 13.5% alc in tanks. Aged in French oak barriques for 10 months. 18/20pts June 2020 RRP $45
