Simonnet-Febvre Cremant de Bourgogne Brut NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 22-Mar-2012
This long-established Chablis firm makes good quantities of Cremant de Bourgogne in various styles. This is 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir from 20 y.o. vines given at least 9 months on lees. 12.0% alc. and 8 g/L dosage. Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim with a fine bead that dissipates rapidly. The nose is full and open with ripe yellow stonefruit aromas, with good depth. Light bready, nutty notes are present along with some sulphide complexities and toastiness. Dry, full and broad, this is gently effervescent, and showing savoury yellow stonefruits, bread and nuts and a little reduction. Soft textured and mouthfilling, this has good brisk acidity and a moderately long finish. This is an open and accessible flavoursome sparkling to serve with seafood and poultry over the next 2 years. 17.0+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $29.99
