Silver Wing Waipara Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Oct-2014
Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Georges Road’ block, from 7 y.o. vines, given overnight skin contact and indigenous yeast fermented, 25% in barrel to 12.5% alc. and 8.9 g/L RS, the wine aged 12 months on lees with batonnage. Bright, full straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The bouquet is firm and intense with solidly concentrated aromas of lime fruit and white florals heavily infused with wet-stone minerals and flinty reduction. Off-dry to taste, concentrated flavours of lime and earthy citrus fruits are melded with complex layers of minerals and reductive flavours. The palate has a firm core with fine, grainy phenolics and considerable fruit extract, balanced by lively acidity. The citrus fruit flavours grow, revealing secondary toast elements, leading to a positive, lingering finish. This is a concentrated and complex off-dry Riesling with plenty of reductive aromas and flavours. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 4-6 years. 17.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $24.00
