Silver Wing Waipara Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Oct-2014
40% clone 5, 30% 667 and 30% 777 from the ‘Williams Family’ block, Omihi Hill, the fruit hand-picked, destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 15% new French oak. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with light garnet hues on rim. The nose is light with soft red floral and savoury red berryfruit and earthy aromas, showing a little lift, alongside dried herb, game and cedary secondary complexities. The aromatics grow gently in volume with aeration. Medium-full bodied, soft, easy, sweet and luscious red fruit and floral flavours feature on the palate. Delicate strawberry notes unfold with nuances of dried herbs and bramble. Bright, lively acidity enhances the fruit clarity, and the wine follows a fine-textured line with some alcohol drive apparent, leading to a gently detailed finish with secondary earthy elements. Showing some secondary complexities on bouquet, this fine and lively Pinot Noir has sweet fruit flavours. Match with risotto, pasta and poultry over the next 4 years. 17.5+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $30.00
