Silver Wing Waipara Late Harvest Noble Riesling 2011

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Oct-2014
Bright, even, golden-yellow colour with some depth. This has a full, opulent and decadent nose of ripe exotic tropical fruits with layers of marmalade, honey and crystallised fruits, along with waves of musk and talc botrytis complexities. Very sweet to taste and medium-bodied, rich, opulent and densely packed flavours of tropical fruits, marmalade and honey fill the palate. This is unctuous and densely textured, near syrupy, with lush caramelised and crystallised fruits, musk and botrytis, all harmoniously melded together. A fine line of acidity is present, but the sweetness is almost overwhelming and the wine flows smoothly to an opulent and soft, long lingering finish. This is an unctuously rich, sweet Riesling with soft, enveloping layers of opulent, ripe fruits and complex botrytis flavours. Serve with rich puddings or instead of a liqueur over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked selected of best botrytised bunches from the ‘Omihi Road’ block, picked at 44° Brix, foot-stomped and barrel-fermented to 9.0% alc. and 206 g/L RS. (375 ml) 18.5-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $26.00
