Silver Wing Waipara Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 22-Oct-2014
Full, even, light golden-yellow colour, a little lighter on edge. The bouquet is soft and full with aromas of savoury stonefruits and nutty notes along with minerally lees and solids elements and some complexing oxidative nuances. Medium-full bodied, light, savoury, complex flavours of stonefruits, citrus fruits and nuts are nuanced by oxidative elements. This has good mouthfeel and presence with a good core and fine, smooth textures. The wine is balanced by fresh acidity, and driven with power carrying the flavours to a stylish, lingering, nutty finish. This is a restrained Chardonnay with savoury, nutty flavours, good weight, and a fresh mouthfeel, in the white burgundy style. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked clone 6 fruit from the Glenmark Drive’ block, vines planted in 1996, some WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 80% seasoned oak, undergoing batonnage with 50% MLF. 17.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $26.00
