Silver Wing ‘Nada’ Waipara Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 10-Nov-2015
Full, dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour. The nose is tightly concentrated with aromas of red and black berry and cherry fruit, lifted by red and violet florals, unveiling subtle, piquant herbal nuances. Medium-full bodied and elegantly proportioned, the palate features juicy and sweetly bright fruit flavours of dark red berry and cherry fruit that form a good core. Some herbal nuances add interest and detail. The wine flows strongly with fine, slippery acidity and some underlying alcoholic power. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin structure and the wine carries to a slender, but firm, lingering finish. This is a bright-fruited, juicy Pinot Noir with red fruits and subtle herb nuances, and a driven palate with fine structure. Serve with poultry, pork and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit, 40% clone 777 and the remainder 5 and 667, from the ‘Williams Family’ vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented with 5% whole clusters to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 15% new French oak. Bottled without any sulphates, preservatives or chemicals, but with some CO2. Labelled as ‘Preservative Free’. 18.0-/20 Nov 2015 RRP $32.00
