Sileni Estates ‘The Lodge’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Sep-2011
Bright, light straw-yellow with some lemony hues to the colour, this has an intense, softly concentrated and rich bouquet of ripe yellow stonefruits and mealy, nutty, toasty oak that unfolds more interest in the glass. A finely proportioned and elegant wine, this has excellent concentration of ripe nectarine and citrus fruit flavours interwoven with mealy, spicy, nutty oak, seamlessly interwoven and balanced with barrel-ferment creamy textures. The richness is counterpoised by excellent acidity, and the balance with depth of flavour carries through to a long, spicy, mealy finish. Hand-picked and WBP, fully barrel-fermented in French barriques to 13.5% alc., the wine aged on lees, with 100% MLF and maturation in oak for 9-10 months. An elegant, yet complex wine showing the intensity to match grilled fish, poultry and pork over the next 4-5+ years. 18.5+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $32.00
