Sileni Estates ‘Straits’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Aug-2016
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. This has a full and well-packed nose with up-front aromas of pungent passionfruit along with notes of ripe tropical fruits and fresh herbs, subtle citrus and floral elements and youthful fermentation esters lift. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features sweetly rich, aromatic fruit flavours of passionfruit and tropical fruit with herbs, citrus and florals, lifted a little by ferment esters. This is elegantly concentrated and the mouthfeel is smooth flowing with soft textures, enlivened by fresh, lacy, thirst-quenching acidity. The wine carries to a long and sustained finish of passionfruit. This is an elegantly concentrated, rich, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with smooth textures and fresh acidity. Serve with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. A selection of the best parcels of Sileni’s Marlborough fruit, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.9 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 18.0/20 Aug 2016 RRP $24.99
