Sileni Estates ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Oaked Chardonnay 2018

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 17-Oct-2018
Bright, even, pale golden-hued light-yellow colour, lighter edged. The nose is elegantly proportioned with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits melded with a layer of fresh herbs and subtle nutty oak elements. The aromatics have a steely line of freshness. Medium-bodied, the palate has restrained, but positive flavours of white and yellow stonefruits with citrus fruit elements and some nutty oak, layered with a little lemon-curd and buttery MLF. The flavours build to form a moderately concentrated heart and the mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh acidity. The wine carries to a lingering finish of citrus fruit and nuts. This is a moderately concentrated Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus fruit flavour with nutty oak and MLF elements showing on a fresh palate. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 2-3 years. Fruit predominantly from the Bridge Pa Triangle with some Mangatahi fruit, fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 3.4 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months in oak undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 16.5+/20 Oct 2018 RRP $23.99
