Sileni Estates ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Franc/Merlot 2018

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 17-Oct-2018
Bright, even, purple-hued, light ruby-red colour. The nose is light and elegantly presented with moderately concentrated aromas of redcurrants with soft notes of fresh herbs, forming a core with red plum fruit. This is accessible and uncomplicated. Medium-bodied, the palate has taut but elegant favours of aromatic redcurrants and fresh herbs, along with red floral lift and hints of red plums. The flavours are up-front and supported by light tannin extraction lending a textured mouthfeel, softened by integrated acidity. The flavours carry along a good line to a lingering, textured finish. This is a taut and elegant, redcurrant, floral and herb flavoured Cabernet Franc blend with light tannin grip. Serve with tapas, pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 2-3 years. A blend of 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot, predominantly from the Bridge Pa Triangle with some Dartmoor Valley fruit, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 4 months in 15% new French oak barriques. 16.5/20 Oct 2018 RRP $23.99
