Sileni Estates ‘Priestess’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-Nov-2016
Bright, light golden-hued yellow colour, paler on the edge. The nose is softly full with a harmonious amalgam of ripe yellow stonefruits with subtle notes of honeysuckle, and an integrated layering of nuts, unfolding a lifted floral note and suggestions of spice. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features a moderately rich and concentrated heart of ripe yellow stonefruits melded with honeysuckle and nuts. The fruit richness is balanced by fine phenolic textures and lively, bright acidity that lends energy and tension. This has good mouthfeel and presence. The wine flows positively to a solidly packed, but rounded, lingering finish of stonefruits, honey and nuts. This is a harmoniously balanced dry Pinot Gris with rich stonefruit, honied and nutty flavours, good depth and energy. Match with Asian and Mediterranean cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Te Awanga and Mangatahi with a small portion from the Bridge Pa Triangle, hand-picked and WBP, 50% fermented in stainless-steel and 50% in seasoned oak barrels to 14.0% alc. and 4.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. 18.0+/20 Nov 2016 RRP $24.99
