Sileni Estates ‘Exceptional Vintage’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 06-Sep-2011
Made only in outstanding vintages from hand-picked fruit, WBP and fully barrel-fermented in French barriques to 14.0% alc., the wine underwent 100% MLF and was aged on gross lees in barrel for 9-10 months. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, this has a full, voluminous nose with shy nectarine-like fruit aromas, along with complexing flinty nuances, and an underlying brooding power. Dry on palate, the potential is clear, the flavours of ripe stonefruits, tropical fruits and nuts are concentrated and densely packed, and though restrained exude a rich sweetness and lusciousness with voluptuous textures. The oaking matches the depth of fruit flavour, and is harmoniously balanced. Soft acidity adds to the roundness adding to the mouthfilling nature of the wine. This will unfold showing greater richness and nutty complexities over the next 5-7 years.  Match with flavoursome seafood, poultry, pork and veal dishes. 19.0-/20 RRP $70.00
