Sileni Estates ‘Cellar Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2016

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-Nov-2016
Dark ruby-rd colour with some depth, and light purple hues on the rim. This has a softly concentrated, up-front nose with good depth of primary raspberry and boysenberry fruits entwined with plum jam, white pepper, dark herb notes and nuances of spice. Medium-bodied, this has an elegantly presented palate with a sweet-fruited core of dark raspberries, boysenberry jam and white pepper, with floral and spice notes adding interest. The fruit is supported by supple tannin extraction and the palate possesses integrated, balancing acidity. The wine carries smoothly to a dry, light-textured, moderately sustained, fruit-focussed finish. This is a well-balanced, accessible and supple Syrah with fresh raspberry, plum and white pepper flavours. Match with tapas and antipasto over the next 3 years. Fruit from the Bridge Pa Triangle destemmed and fermented to 12.5% alc., with only a small portion given oak contact. 17.0/20 Nov 2016 RRP $19.99
