Sileni Estates ‘Cellar Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Feb-2011
Fullish light straw-yellow colour with the faintest blush hint, this has a subtle, but voluminous bouquet of white stonefruits, perfumed pears and minerals. Dryish on palate, this is crisp and tight with delicate stonefruit and steely mineral flavours. The textures are soft, and the vinous presence provides interest, though the wine is essentially up-front and uncomplicated. Fruit from the company's Hawke's Bay vineyards cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and an imperceptible 3.8 g/L rs. A small portion underwent barrel-fermentation, and the wine had lees contact. Drink as an aperitif and with Asian cuisine over the next 2-3 years. 16.0+/20 Feb 2011 RRP $20.00
