Sileni Estates ‘Alba’ Hawke’s Bay 2015

Blended White from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 30-Aug-2016
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the edge. This has a soft, voluminous nose with a good core and deep aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits alongside exotic florals, citrus zest, unfolding subtle notes of herbs and nuts. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a deep-hearted palate with an array of flavours showing ripe yellow stonefruits, citrus fruit, exotic florals, musk and herbs. The mouthfeel is rounded with fresh, underlying acidity enlivening the palate, providing good tension. The wine flows along a fine-textured line, leading to a long, softly-packed finish with citrus, musk and herb notes. This is a deep-hearted and rounded, blended white with an array of stonefruit, musk and herb flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. An aromatic blend based on 38% Pinot Gris, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 17% Viognier, 6% Muscat and 4% Chardonnay from Mangatahi, Te Awanga and Bridge Pa Triangle, hand-picked, WBP, and cool-fermented in stainless-steel, the Chardonnay in oak barrique to 14.0% alc. and 3.6 g/L RS, the wine blended and aged 6 months in seasoned barriques. 17.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $32.99
