Shot In The Dark South Eastern Australia Shiraz/Petite Sirah 2012

Syrah from Australia - Other
Review Date : 30-Oct-2013
70% Shiraz and 30% Petit Sirah (Durif) fermented to 14.3% alc, the wine undergoing oak aging. Very dark, impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues. Firm and fully-packed aromas of black berry fruit meld with black pepper, leather, plum jam and dusty, minerally notes, revealing liquorice and meaty, tar-like elements. Full-bodied, the palate features black berry fruits, minerals and tar. The fruit flavours are framed by firm tannins and structure, the textures building to become the prominent feature. Lively acidity provides energy and drive, carrying the concentrated fruit and extract to a very long, grainy, dry finish. This is a very concentrated black fruited Shiraz blend with dusty, earth and tar flavours and bold tannins from the Petite Sirah component. Match with roasted and grilled game meats over the next 6-8+ years. 18.0/20 Oct 2013 RRP $17.99
