Sherwood ‘Stratum’ Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 25-May-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, paler on the rim. The nose is soft and light with fresh and uncomplicated aromas of sweet gooseberry fruit along with nuances of tropical fruits, unfolding soft herbs, green apple and green capsicum notes. Some cooler nettle and cut grass elements emerge in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses soft, up-front and aromatic fruit flavours of gooseberries, herbs, tropical fruits and cut grass. The mouthfeel is soft-textured with gently refreshing acidity. As the wine flows along a light-textured, soft line, the flavours recede to leave cut grass, nettle and herbal nuances and zest acidity on the finish. This is a light, crisp and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and cut-grass flavours. Serve with salads and vegetables, and Pacific Rim fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. Fruit from the Waipara Valley cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and 2.0 g/L RS, the wine aged 2 months on lees. 16.0-/20 May 2016 RRP $15.00
