Sherwood Estate Waipara Valley Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Jun-2013
Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Georges Road’ vineyards, half cool-fermented in tank and half fermented in seasoned French oak to 11.5% alc. and 7.5 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees for 8 months. Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light lemon-green hues. The bouquet is initially delicate with fine lime and lemony fruit intermixed with slightly savoury, mineral and flinty interest, the aromatics growing in penetration and showing a tightly bound core. Dryish to taste, the palate is elegantly sized with fresh lime and lemon flavours. The mouthfeel is fresh with slippery, lacy acidity enlivening the fruit, and underlined by a fine textural thread that leads the flavours to a pure fresh, minerally finish with dry, steely elements. This is a pure fruited off-dry Riesling with a gentle freshness. Serve as an aperitif or with seafood over the next 4+ years. 17.0/20 Jun 2013 RRP $19.00
