Sherwood Estate Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Jun-2013
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with some purple hues, lighter on edge. The nose is softly presented with a good core of dark raspberry aromas, along with savoury dark herb and minerally elements and subtly lifted red cherry and floral notes. Medium-bodied, upfront, vibrant and juicy raspberry fruit flavours are enriched by whole berry-like confectionary and liqueur hints. The fruit is enlivened by good acidity and driven along a fine, grainy palate line. A little alcohol is noticeable and the mouthfeel progresses to a sustained, dry, textural finish. Soft on bouquet, this Pinot Noir has juicy raspberry fruit flavours and a dry, grainy finish. Serve with pasta, risotto and poultry dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Terraces’, ‘Georges Road’, ‘Church Road’, ‘Glasnevin’ and ‘Stirling’ vineyards given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 24 days on skins and aged 9 months in oak. 16.5/20 Jun 2013 RRP $25.00
