Sherwood Estate ‘Stratum’ Waipara Valley Saignee Pinot Noir Rosé 2016

Rose from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-Sep-2016
Brilliant salmon-pink with peach hues and some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh, with light, mouthwatering, but finely packed aromas of strawberries and cranberries with pomegranate notes and subtle mineral nuances. The aromatics build in depth and concentration in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses light, savoury strawberry fruit flavours entwined with pomegranate and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is refreshing and follows a delicate, textured phenolic thread lending dryness. Fresh lacy acidity carries the wine as the flavours recede leaving a delicate strawberry nuanced finish. This is a light, dry rosé with strawberry fruit and mineral nuances. Serve as an aperitif, and with canapes over the next 2 years. Pinot Noir fruit given two days skin contact with 5% drawn off and cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 0.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 16.0+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $18.99
