Sherwood Estate ‘Stratum’ Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-Sep-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with some depth and light golden hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is elegantly concentrated and tightly bound with firmly packed aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, along with flinty lees, and nuances of smoke and nuts. The aromatics are refreshing and deep. Dry to taste, the flavours of white and yellow stonefuits are light, but vibrant and lively, and entwined with subtle mineral and flinty lees elements. The mouthfeel is bright and crisp with brisk acidity providing energy and tension. The wine flows with zestiness to a dry, moderately long finish with delicate stonefruit nuances. This is a fresh, bright and vibrant, stonefruited dry Pinot Gris with a lively mouthfeel. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Pilgrim’ vineyard, WBP, given skin contact, indigenous yeast fermented and barrel-fermentation to 14.0% alc. and 1.5 g/L RS. 17.0+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $16.99
