Sherwood Estate ‘Stoney Range’ Waipara Valley Riesling 2018

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 31-Jan-2019
Bright straw-yellow with green hues and some depth, lighter on the rim. This has a very fine, tightly bound and elegantly presented nose with a fine core of lime, citrus and floral fruit along with nuances of honey and a little musk. The fruit richness shows good intensity, and the phenolic core suggests more detail will unfold. Medium to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours are light and restrained, showing honey and florals, revealing moderate richness. This has a well-defined core with linearity. The mouthfeel is rounded and soft-textured with gentle phenolics and balanced acidity, carrying to a lingering finish. This is a light-fruited medium Riesling with light grip and balanced acidity. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Georges Road’ vineyards, some of the fruit with botrytis infection, cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 25 g/L RS, TA 8.5 /L, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 17.0/20 Jan 2019 RRP $17.00
