Sherwood Estate ‘Stoney Range’ Waipara Valley Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 19-Feb-2014
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on rim. The nose is full, open and voluminous with aromas of jasmine and exotic florals entwined with citrus fruits, honey and esters lifted musk. Medium in sweetness and light-bodied, subtle flavours of lifted esters, jasmine florals, citrus and honey show on a soft-textured palate. The mouthfeel is juicy and enlivened by lacy acidity providing plenty of lusciousness. The flavours recede with the linear flow and fine phenolic textures emerge leading to a dry finish. This is an up-front, exotically aromatic and juicy medium Riesling. Serve as an aperitif and with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Georges Road’ vineyards, cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 24 g/L RS, the wine spending 6 months on lees. 17.5+/20 Feb 2014 RRP $14.95
