Sherwood Estate ‘Stoney Range’ Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 19-Feb-2014
Fruit from the ‘Glasnevin’ and ‘Stirling’ vineyards, stainless-steel fermented with 20% in barrel with indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months on lees. Brilliant light golden-yellow colour with good depth, paler on rim. This has a full, broad and up-front nose of butterscotch and cream from MLF, with yellow stonefruit and hints of flint behind. This has a mono-dimensional depth and intensity. Dry and full-bodied, citrus fruit flavours and MLF butterscotch flavours are melded together on palate. This has good weight and density with a rounded, creamy mouthfeel. The wine is underlined by lacy acidity and there is good drive, carrying the butterscotch flavours to a restrained finish with stonefruit and flinty nuances. This is an up-front, fulsome Chardonnay with pronounced MLF butterscotch flavours. Serve with tapas, seafood and poultry over the next 3 years. 16.5/20 Feb 2014 RRP $14.95
