Sherwood Estate ‘Sherwood’ Waipara Valley Riesling 2015

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 21-Aug-2016
Bright, light golden yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is tight and shy with soft and subtle aromas showing concentrated lime fruit, savoury and exotic citrus fruits, suggestions of honeysuckle melded with chalky minerals. Medium-dry to medium to taste, the palate features exotic florals entwined with tangerine and lime fruit along with honeysuckle notes. The fruit forms a softly concentrated core with good presence and follows a fine-grained phenolic line with integrated acidity. The wine carries with gentle energy to a lingering finish of exotic florals and honeysuckle. This is a softly concentrated, exotic medium Riesling with lime and honeysuckle fruit flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Georges Road’ vineyards, cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 15 g/L RS, TA 7.5 g/L and pH 3.21, the wine aged 8 months on lees. 18.0/20 Aug 2016 RRP $18.99
