Sherwood Estate ‘Sherwood’ Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 24-Jul-2016
Moderately dark ruby-red colour with light purple hues, paler on the rim. The nose is well-concentrated with up-front and fruit-focussed aromas of ripe black cherries and dark raspberries, along with nuances of liquorice, unfolding violet floral elements. Medium bodied, gently sweet and succulent fruit flavours of dark red berry and cherry fruit show with liquorice elements, and form a rounded and positively concentrated core. The fruit richness is enhanced by refreshing acidity and the palate follows a soft-textured line. This is supple and accessible, but with sufficient structure to carry to a fine-textured finish with dark-red fruit notes. This is a gently succulent dark-red berry and cherry fruited Pinot Noir with a good heart and fine-textured line. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from ‘The Terraces’, ‘Georges Road’, ‘Church Road’, ‘Glasnevin’ and ‘Stirling’ vineyards, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 24 days on skins and aged 9 months in oak barrels. 17.5-/20 Jul 2016 RRP $21.99
