Sherwood Estate ‘Sherwood’ Waipara Valley Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-Sep-2016
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, paler on the rim. The nose is softly concentrated with harmoniously interwoven aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, unfolding white florals and delicate complexing flint and mineral nuances. The nose has a soft density and good aromatic penetration. Dry to taste, the palate features an elegantly concentrated core of white and yellow stonefruits harmoniously interwoven with lifted florals, flinty and minerals. The mouthfeel has a softly packed heart with underlying power and drive, and the wine carries of a well-packed, lingering, dry finish with soft stonefruit notes. This is a harmoniously concentrated dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit flavours and subtle detail, along with good drive. Match with poultry and pork over the next 3 years. Fruit from the ‘Pilgrim’ vineyard, WBP, given skin contact, indigenous yeast fermented and barrel-fermentation to 14.0% alc. and 1.5 g/L RS. 17.0+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $18.99
