Sherwood Estate ‘Sherwood’ Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 25-Jul-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with aromas of savoury citrus fruits unfolding complexing layers of creamy, nutty barrel-ferment and oak elements and flinty lees detail. Medium-bodied, the palate features well-concentrated and deeply packed flavours of savoury citrus and yellow stonefruits entwined with layers of mealy and nutty, creamy oak and flinty lees. The flavours are bold with depth and soft, interwoven intensity, and the mouthfeel integrated with subtle rounded textures and integrated acidity. The wine carries to a finely concentrated, lingering finish of citrus fruits and nuts. This is a full and softly concentrated Chardonnay with complex savoury citrus and nutty flavours. Match with roasted poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Glasnevin’ vineyards, fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak barrels on lees. 18.0/20 Jul 2016 RRP $18.99
