Sherwood Estate ‘Sherwood’ Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 19-Feb-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with some golden hues, lighter on rim. The nose is tight and elegantly concentrated with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits intermingling with fine nutty and flinty complexities, revealing citrussy layers in the glass. Medium-light bodied, soft and light flavours of stonefruits, nuts and flint are harmoniously integrated, the intricate array of detail providing subtle interest ad a degree of complexity. The mouthfeel is soft, fine-featured and gentle, and the flavours flow to a light and slender finish with nutty, oxidative nuances. This is an elegant and subtly flavoured, nutty Chardonnay with soft mouthfeel. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Glasnevin’ vineyards, fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months on lees in barrel. 17.5-/20 Feb 2014 RRP $25.00
