Sherwood Estate ‘Heritage Collection’ ‘8 Wire’ Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Jun-2013
Fruit from the ‘Stirling’ and ‘Church Road’ vineyards indigenous yeast fermented in old French oak barrels to 13.5% alc. and 1.0 g/L rs, the wine aged 11 months in oak with lees contact and undergoing partial MLF. Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. The nose is firm and tightly bound with intense aromas of nectarines, greengages and gooseberry fruit, infused with oak spices and some flinty lees nuances that grow in the glass. Dry and full-bodied, concentrated and powerfully packed flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits, greengages and spicy, nutty oak form a complex amalgam and core. The mouthfeel is full and weighty, but underlined by lacy acidity and driven by alcoholic power, carrying some texture. The flavours build in depth and unfold green stonefruit and smoky notes on a solid, fulsome finish. This is a full and concentrated, complex-flavoured, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc that will match herbed poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. 18.0+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $24.95
