Senechaux Chateauneuf du Pape 2009

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 17-May-2012
64% Grenache, 19% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and 2% Cinsault with Vaccarese, the wine aged 12-14 months, 50% in foudre, 35% in 1 y.o. oak and the remainder in tank. Very dark, deep, black-red colour. The nose is finely proportioned and intense with aromatic, ripe dark red fruits with notes of herbs and florals. This is a fruit-driven wine, showing up-front richness in a linear fashion. The palate is supple, soft and lush in mouthfeel with sufficient acidity for cut. The extraction is modest and allows the fruit to feature, the finish being long and gently sweet. Enjoyable in the early to mid-term, say over the next 6-8 years.  17.5+/20  May 2012  RRP $65.00
