Seifried Nelson Wurzer 2009

Other White from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 13-Sep-2011
Wurzer is a little-planted German cross of Gewurztraminer and Muller-Thurgau. Around 100 ha only are planted world-wide. This is the fourth release of the varietal from Seifried Estate, the vines planted in the ‘Redwood Valley' vineyard. Cool, stop-fermented at 13.0% alc. and 14 g/L rs. Bright, full, straw-yellow colour with some golden hues. This has a softly full and broad nose of savoury florals with toast and hair-oil secondary development aromatics. Medium sweet, the palate is full, rounded and soft in mouthfeel, with a flavour amalgam of brown spices, yellow florals, honey and toast. The low acidity and light textural thread lead to a dry, soft finish. This is now mature showing developed flavour interest. Drink over the next 2 years with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. 16.0+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $18.00
