Seifried Nelson Riesling 2007

Riesling from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Feb-2013
96% Brightwater fruit, from vines planted in 2002, with 4% Redwood Valley fruit from vines planted in 1998. Tank fermented to 12.2% alc. and 16 g/L rs. Full, even, straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The nose is full and densely packed, quite fat and packed with intense toasty aromas, the bouquet firm and somewhat four-square. Medium-dryish to taste, attractive lime and honey fruit flavours reveal layers of secondary custard, toastiness and kero detail. Some creaminess of texture sits apart from the brisk, firm acidity, the zestiness still to harmonise completely and the flavours carry through to a drying finish with a suggestion of bitterness and some lifted esters. This appears to be on a maturation plateau, with an array of secondary flavours, the palate hinting at dryness. 17.5+/20 Feb 2013
