Seifried Nelson Gruner Veltliner 2012

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 07-Feb-2013
Third crop wine from the ‘Brightwater' vineyard, stainless-steel fermented to 12.6% alc. and 5 g/L rs, the wine given 1 week post ferment lees contact. Very pale straw colour with slight green hues, this has a lifted aromatic nose with youthful fermentation aromas, quite intense and subtle herb varietal elements in the background. Off-dry to taste, the fruit is restrained, with esters lift prominent. A little tropical fruit shows, with softly crisp acidity in support. This is finely textured, the phenolics well-handled, and the flavours carried through to a moderately sustained finish. An uncomplicated wine with light, lifted esters. 16.0+/20 Feb 2013
