Sebastiani Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Cabernet Sauvignon from USA
Review Date : 21-Feb-2014
Full, dark, deep, black-red colour, still with youthful hues. This has a gently voluminous bouquet with soft and broad layers of red and blackcurranty fruit melded with milk chocolate, cedary oak, a hint of eucalyptus with cigar-box interest. Medium-full bodied, softly full, luscious flavours of blackcurrants, plums and earthy red fruits form a harmonious core with spicy plums, cedary oak and mellow nutty flavours. The palate features a good core with firm underlying drive and grainy tannins, the acidity being a little low. This has good power leading to a cedary, cigar-box nuanced finish. This is a soft textured, succulent Cabernet Sauvignon with forward chocolate and cedar flavours. Serve with casseroles and slow-cooked game meat over the next 4-5 years. 82.1% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.3% Merlot, 2.5% Petit Verdot, 3.8% Syrah and 2.3% mixed reds, mainly from Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley and Chalk Hill, fermented to 13.85% alc., the wine aged 15 months primarily in American oak. 61,000 cases made. 17.0+/20 Feb 2014 RRP $30.99
