Sea Level ‘Home Block’ Nelson Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 18-Aug-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, a little paler on edge. This has a full, fresh nose, the fruit aromatics initially restrained, showing subtle white stonefruits and florals, unfolding to reveal delicate flinty lees and minerally detail. The fruit and the subtle complexities grow in depth and richness, and are harmoniously interwoven. Off-dry to taste and finely proportioned, the fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits are entwined with subtle yellow floral and honeysuckle elements, and nuances of minerals and lees. The palate is delicately rich and succulent, the sweetness balanced by refreshing acidity. The wine flows with vitality and energy along a very fine textured line, leading to a bright and lively, long lingering finish of stonefruits and honeysuckle. This is an elegant, subtly rich Pinot Gris with a refreshing mouthfeel. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Machine-picked fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 6.5 g/L RS. 18.0+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $17.95
