Sea Level ‘Home Block’ Nelson Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 23-Dec-2013
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with the faintest suggestion of blush, pale on rim. The bouquet is softly voluminous with gently expressed aromas of fresh, ripe yellow stonefruits and attractively lifted honeysuckle notes. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, light, but delicately rich yellow stonefruit and floral flavours unfold to reveal some savoury honeysuckle elements. The mouthfeel is rounded and balanced by light, lacy acidity and carried by supple textures and line. Nutty nuances add to the detail and the palate is carried with some drive to a dry, moderately sustained finish. This is an aromatic, dry Pinot Gris with subtle richness. Match with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Sea Level’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Dec 2013 RRP $21.95
