Sea Level ‘Home Block’ Nelson Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 25-Sep-2013
Hand-picked fruit, WBP and second half of the fermentation conducted in barrel to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak, undergoing MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour with some green-gold hues, pale edged. The nose is tight with refreshing, steely aromas of white stonefruits and nuts, butter and bacony oak nuances. Some secondary toasty, nutty, oxidative complexities add detail and interest to the bouquet. Medium-full bodied, flavours of ripe stonefruits, nuts and toasty oak fill the palate. There is good depth and concentration, the mouthfeel dry and subtly textured with restrained acidity. The wine has good power and linearity, carrying the flavours of nuts and stonefruits to a long and sustained finish. This is a dry, concentrated Chardonnay with strong stonefruit and nutty flavours along with a little toastiness. Match with grilled and roasted poultry and pork dishes over the next 4+ years. 18.0/20 Sep 2013 RRP $24.95
