Sea Level Home Block Chenin Blanc 2021, Nelson

Chenin Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 22-Feb-2023
Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is gentle and savoury, enveloping citrus, stonefruit, minerals, spice and fresh-cut wool. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, with aromas of apricot and lemon at core, layering chalky minerals, a hint of lanolin and ginger. This spice emphasises the flavour and lengthens to a crisp, long finish. The chalky minerals lightly coasted the palate and left an almost unctuous mouthfeel. This dry Chenin Blanc shows layers and texture with a complex range of flavours. Match with crab linguine and pork meatloaf over the next 3-5 years. Handpicked whole bunch pressed, spontaneous fermentation in old oak puncheons with a wild yeast strain from the vineyard. 13% alc, 7.8 g/l RS. Aged 7 months in barrels and a further 3 months in stainless steel. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Feb 2023 RRP $27.50
