Full, dark red colour ith garnet hues and a little bricking on the edge. The nose is softly full and voluminous with well-packed and deep aromas of savoury and earthy dark-red berry fruits along with dark plums, notes of undergrowth and dried herbs, unfolding some piquant floral elements. This has a little robustness and rusticity. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a harmonious core with layers of sweet and savoury flavours of red berry fruits with plums and earth, a touch of pepper, oak spice and nuttiness with dried herbs. The fruit flavours are concentrated and the wine possesses good mouthfeel and presence with richness. Fine tannin structure underlines the fruit and the acidity is balanced. The wine carries positively to a lingering savoury, spicy, earthy finish. This is a robust, savoury fruited red blend with layers of flavour and fine structure. Match with casseroles and slow-cooked game meat over the next 5 years. A blend of Syrah, Merlot and Pinot Noir from ‘Marion’s Vineyard’ with a small portion of the Syrah from the ‘Home’ block, the fruit hand-picked and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 48 months in 35% new French oak barriques.
